LOCALS have been left angry after a controversial energy hub next to their village, which is bigger than the settlement, was granted planning permission.
The 400kv Banniskirk Hub substation and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter station are seen as an essential part of the National Grid by the Scottish Government, which claimed the development would also create new jobs for the area.
Following the council’s decision to approve the hub, local resident and one of the objectors Kathrin Haltiner refused to sit back and stay quiet.
Ms Haltiner said: “Banniskirk and its impact on Caithness is too big to just let what happened go.
“If the decision can’t be amended, it would be good to at least see a change in attitude for future decisions.”
