Energy giant SSEN’s proposals for new 400kV overhead lines faced fierce local opposition and will be the subject of a public inquiry.
Tracey Smith, who lives near Fordoun, said she was “absolutely horrified” when she first discovered pylons were going to be placed near her home.
She formed the Save Our Mearns campaign group and quickly started organising against the scheme.
In 2024, she was elected as a Tory councillor in Aberdeenshire.
