The D&G planning application committee met today to discuss the Met Mast application for Lairdmannoch WF which was recommended for approval by the Planner.
The legal adviser confirmed that each application had to be considered on its own merits. The Raeshaw WF court decision (see below) is applicable to wind farms but this is not a wind energy generating application and it is not challenging an EIA so it therefore doesn’t apply here. There was therefore no barrier to determining the application today.
The speakers made a good case for the fact that it was associated with the wind farm application and there would be no point in having the mast if the wind farm was refused. It therefore cannot be treated as a separate application as they are inextricably linked. They also raised the potential impact on the Dark Sky Park.
Well done everyone who spoke.
Councillors had some concerns about the road access but given the low number of vehicles using it for construction they decided it shouldn’t be a problem.
It was unanimously approved.
