A WIND farm near Moniaive is expected to go ahead within the next two-and-a-half years after an energy firm secured a deadline extension.Troston Loch Windfarm had already been granted consent, and the land at Troston Estate is earmarked for 14 turbines up to 150m in blade tip height. The development was due to begin by no later than December 18 this year and the wind farm is set to produce enough electricity to power around 40,000 homes annually. However, Vantage RE, the energy firm behind the project, was forced to seek a two-year extension. At yesterday’s planning committee meeting, Dumfries and Galloway Council planning case officer Graham Smith said that the extension is due to “uncertainty about the grid connection”.He added: “They envisage that 2028 should be enough time to allow that to be resolved, and for them to get going.” https://pressreader.com/article/281676851489018
