British households could be locked into some of the highest electricity prices in the world if Ed Miliband does not pause the development of offshore wind farms, a cost-of-living campaigner has warned.
Will Hodson, a consumer champion, has called on Miliband to halt his drive to more than double offshore wind farms by 2030, in order to bring down energy bills for consumers.
His comments came as Wes Streeting, the former health secretary, warned that the continued push of net-zero strategies “on the backs of the poor” risked allowing Nigel Farage to “walk” into Downing Street.
According to the National Energy System Operator, households had to pay £1.9 billion to switch off windfarms in 2024-25 as 13 per cent of their energy was wasted. So called “constraint payments” are set to rise to £8 billion by 2030, before halving again by 2035 as the grid is upgraded.  https://www.thetimes.com/uk/environment/article/end-wind-farm-scandal-to-halt-energy-bills-miliband-urged-njtwbktpg?fbclid=IwY2xjawSckkFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeFv-HeqcNXSy6vjkDIkMQQ_DU1jKnCo5e-OC5fpvpgEG3V8nxkB151Q1dx1s_aem_SOjKNeZ4TLcJFLgSH2eJkQ
