A proposal, revealed a year ago by Green Cat Renewables, to build a
windfarm 900 metres from Rossie School, has been withdrawn.
However, although that has proved good news for opponents of the plan, they
are less pleased by the follow-up, that an alternative, albeit smaller,
plan has been put forward.
And the withdrawn application was a scaled down version of the 2007 bid for
three turbines, each 105 metres high.
In place of the proposed three 80-metre turbines, the latest plan, in
conjunction with land-owner John Stirling, is to build two 51-metre masts.
Glen Moon, of Tellus Energy, will submit renewed proposals to Angus Council
in due course.
Local man Mr Gordon Paterson repeated his opposition, stating that the
objections raised in connection with the previous application remain
fundamentally relevant.
And despite the lowering of the proposed height, Mr Paterson remains
adamant that they are too high and incompatible in an area of outstanding
beauty, forever spoiling the landscape.
He was also gravely concerned about the effect the turbines would have on
wildlife, both native and migrating.
There was also a previous objection from Rossie School, whose operators
felt that the previous wind farm would impact on those using the moor for
recreational purposes.
Historic Scotland had the opportunity to object but did not, stating its
belief that the impacts on the setting of a number of heritage assets would
not be of a sufficient magnitude.
