A group of digital entrepreneurs have launched a kickstarter campaign to take a prototype mobile device that monitors for Low Frequency Noise and claims to help guard and reduce against the negative impacts from LFN was launched on the 27th April to coincide with International Noise Awareness Day.
The company they have formed; Blossom wrote to the SAS team:
We are a small UK-based start-up company, and we are launching our new low frequency noise sensor, called Rumble, on the crowd-funding website, Kickstarter. The first few days are crucial, and I am writing to ask if you would be happy to send out an email to members, or associates, about the Kickstarter campaign, to encourage them to pre-order the device, so that we can get it launched and start manufacturing.
The Rumble device is a sensor that is connected directly or via bluetooth to your smartphone or tablet, and comes with an app to be installed on your device that will allow you to measure low frequencies, see how they affect you and help you to reduce your exposure.
SAS contacted a member of the Independent Noise Working Group who responded;
This is fundamentally a development of micro-barometer technology which on its face could be a potentially useful and relatively cheap tool from a variety of perspectives. Attached fyi is a short paper on the subject of micro-barometers and WT LFN and ILFN by leading acoustician Rick James.

The Blossom spokesperson further adds:
We need 2,000 people to order Rumble, for everybody to get what they order. This is the way crowd-funding websites work. The earlier people order, from tomorrow, the less expensive the product. The earliest buyers can purchase Rumble for £40. In other words, get in their early, for the best price. ‘Early adopters’ can also feel involved in supporting the creation of a valuable, exciting and very helpful product.
The device will normally retail at £90, but is currently available to early adopters for £40 which can be pre-ordered through the Kickstarter campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1221635674/rumble-manage-low-frequency-noise-for-better-healt) or via the Blossom website (https://blossom.life)
Kickstarter allows a project creator to set funding goals and deadlines. If people like the project proposal, they can pledge funds towards the project. If the project succeeds in reaching it’s funding goal, all backers to the project will then be charged once the project deadline expires. If the project fails to reach it’s funding goals within the deadline they set, no-one is charged.
If the kickstarter campaign is successful, the company expects to begin turning their product from a prototype into a commercially viable product with shipping of the product expected in December 2016.
