On 2 February at about 12:40, a single-engine two-seater DA20 Katana came
into collision with a wind turbine, in the North of the Germany. The pilot
was killed.

lt is the first fatal accident involving a wind turbine listed in Germany.
It occurred in the town of Melle, near Osnabrück, on the border of Lower
Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, in the North of the Germany. The weather
conditions were good and apparently correct visibility.

The accident occurred near Melle-Grönegau airport at which the 40-year-old
pilot was a member of the local Aero Club. The two-seater hit the pylon
that serves as a pole at a height of 40 m above the ground. The wreck is
still tangled in the metal structure. The pilot, alone on board, was killed.
