Turbine farm development company mulls new Borders project – Scottish Energy News

Published by SAS Volunteer on January 22, 2018 January 22, 2018

Community Windpower is mulling a plan to build a 343MW onshore wind farm
which would straddle the local government border between Dumfries and
Galloway and the Borders.
There is a de facto planning moratorium on new onshore turbine farms in
England.
The Cheshire-based developer has initiated scoping for up to 49 turbines of
between 5MW and 7MW at Faw Side, which rises to a height of 1,700 feet,
about six miles north of Langholm in Dumfries-shire.
The company said it would bring an investment of about £250 million into
the community and wider area.
However, the BBC reported that concerns have been raised about the
cumulative landscape impact and the effect on radar at RAF Spadeadam in
nearby Cumbria.
