Exclusive: Michael Matheson told MSPs there are 19,000 windmills on the country’s hillsides whereas in fact there are around 4,000. He only admitted his glaring mistake after it was spotted by the Scottish Express. Red-faced officials have admitted the Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport doesn’t know how many wind turbines there are in Scotland.
Michael Matheson was asked last summer how many turbines would need to be installed in Scotland in order to meet the 2030 climate targets set by the SNP/Green government.
He told Scottish Conservative MSP Liam Kerr there were “approximately” 19,000 onshore turbines already installed comprising 8.7GW of generating power, and 264 offshore turbines comprising 1.9GW.  https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politics/bungling-snp-energy-minister-doesnt-29070141
