There is a lot of publicity regarding SPEN’s Closing Submission to the recent public inquiry for a 132kV overhead pylon line (OHL) from Kendoon to Tongland
The most recent events were triggered by a letter which Paul Swift of Galloway without Pylons sent to the DPEA which was published on their web site.  The article below was published in the Galloway News this morning.
For the record, this is Chris Ford’s C.V.

Chris is a highly experienced Chartered Town Planner and a researcher in Energy Policy at Strathclyde University. His Planning experience involves a broad range of developments. His academic research focuses on the ‘spatial dimension of energy systems’, which covers: the objectives and progress of energy policy to deal with the climate change transition; the engineering of the various new low carbon technologies; together with the local and global environmental effects from the different type of energy sources. Important for us, his expertise incorporates the electricity transmission system and whether developments of the energy grid are appropriate.

The depth of his knowledge of energy system developments mean he is informally consulted by energy and environmental regulators.

Chris has BA (Hons.) in Town Planning, an MBA, MRTPI, a MSc in Renewable Energy and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

He provides professional planning guidance and support to community advocacy organisations. Through championing of community rights, he has brought about changes in government practice. He is experienced in acting as an expert professional witness in Public local Inquiries, as well as helping organise community and residents organising and presenting their evidence in Inquiries.
