The chaos over the BESS application in Eaglesham continues. To make it even more complicated, the Chair of the Planning Committee (Betty Cunningham) sadly passed away suddenly a few days ago. It was her casting vote which allowed the second application to be consented.
Ruling on a second bid for a controversial battery storage plant in Eaglesham while there was an outstanding appeal over an original plan was “unsound,” a councillor believes.
But the firm’s second bid was approved last month, despite over 300 objections. Both applications had been recommended for approval by planners.
Since the second plan got the go-ahead, a Scottish Government reporter, who was considering an appeal by the applicants, has upheld the refusal of the first application.
The planning committee is expected to consider a motion from Cllr Jim McLean, Conservative, on Wednesday afternoon, which asks members to revoke permission for the second application.
