Repower said the closure of its offices in Aarhus were part of a global programme to adjust “site structure as well as our logistics and our number of personnel”. In April, the company announced it was to cut around 750 jobs globally and reduce costs by EUR100 million by the end of the 2013-14 financial year.

The Danish office was believed to employ around 30 staff.

In a statement, Repower said: “The wind industry is experiencing a considerable weakening of market dynamics — particularly in the offshore segment. An uncertain energy policy framework further reinforces this development.
