One wind turbine could give a near £3 million boost to a community.

But it would blight the landscape close to Girvan, says a planner’s report.

And South Ayrshire’s planning committee unanimously turned it down.They had seen a picture of what the turbine would look like.

And committee chairman Councillor Peter Convery admitted: “Sometimes one picture is worth a thousand words.

“This gigantic construction stood out grotesquely, as viewed from the A77 going into Girvan.”
