A north councillor has accused a planning committee of costing the public a
“fortune” after decisions on two windfarm developments in Caithness were
postponed for councillors to visit the sites.

Highland Council’s north planning application committee met yesterday to
determine the applications, which the council’s head of planning and
building standards, Malcolm MacLeod, recommended they grant.

But councillors instead voted 8-6 in favour of postponing their decision in
order to visit the proposed sites first.
