The Government’s decision to freeze Feed in Tariffs (FITs) for any size
Solar PV system for the remainder of 2013 is good news for Scotland, which
is only beginning to take advantage of developments in Solar PV technology,
said Nick Green of Savills Energy.
However, many who are planning projects beyond the end of the year will
have an uncertain wait for further Government announcement on degression
rates across a range of renewable technology tariffs, including wind, hydro
and solar.
“Such uncertainty makes it difficult to plan projects that require long
lead times. A 20% reduction in FITs is the figure being publicly aired and
this could mean a race against time for schemes,” Mr Green warned.
