Vattenfall and Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group have put back the grid connection to 2017 for the 11-turbine European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre off the north east coast of Scotland.
The companies, shareholders in Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm Ltd which is behind the project, said the decision to delay the demo by up to two years was taken to “help secure the development’s future”.
More time will “allow continued engagement with potential investment partners and takes into account the ongoing onshore planning issues as well as existing legal challenges to the offshore consent”, they said.
