Anti-windfarm campaigner hears outcome of Neighbour Notification for Wind
Turbine Applications Petition.
Aileen Jackson returned to the Public Petitions Committee at Holyrood on 10
December 2013 to hear the outcome of her Petition on extending Neighbour
Notification for Wind Turbine Applications to the ten nearest properties
(without a financial interest) to a proposed development.
The Scottish Government had been considering the issues raised by the
Petition including amending statutory requirements in relation to
considering the different circumstances in which particular developments
may occur, the implications of changes for the wider planning system and
ensuring requirements are proportionate.
According to Aileen, the Committee were delighted and surprised by the
response from the Scottish Government who have committed to the issue of
Guidance on Good Practice in relation to public engagement on proposals for
wind turbines. In compiling that Guidance they will consider the different
approaches that may be appropriate in different circumstances, including
the notification of individual properties. They will engage with
stakeholders in this process, including a public consultation on a draft of
the Guidance before finalising it for publication.
Aileen is a member of campaign group Scotland Against Spin.
