Lyth Wind Farm rejection to be appealed – John O Groat Journal

Developers whose plans to build a wind farm at Lyth were rejected by the
Highland Council are calling for a public inquiry.

Eurowind have announced it is to appeal the decision by Highland Council
planners who denied it permission to build ten turbines in December.

Planners made their decision citing landscape impact on the Dunnet Head
Special Landscape Area as a main reason for rejection.

The company have now appealed to Scottish Government planners and have also
requested an inquiry which it says will allow important points to be tested
in public.

Eurowind Director Ian Lindsay said, “The project sits squarely within
Highland Council’s own preferred area for wind farms with minimal impact on
Dunnet Head, so there are very clear grounds for appeal.”
