LORD of the Rings is about 1,750 pages long, depending which edition you read.
If you sat down and tried to read it for eight hours a day, how long might it take? One month?
If you then had to write an educated analysis and critique of it as a work of fiction, how long might that take?
Another month?
Well, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) have just submitted a 6,000 page, 1.5 million word application to build a pylon line from Spittal in Caithness to Beauly.
The Government has given local authorities, councils and individuals just one month to read, analyse and respond to hundreds of mainly technical documents, written by professionals over several years.
This Government claims to listen to communities, knowing full well that communities are unable to respond meaningfully. Is this democratic?
How much longer can this hypocrisy be tolerated?
Current MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, one Kate Forbes, has been so active fighting the cause for overwhelmed constituents on Skye that the SNP came fourth in a recent council election there.
How stupid does this government and its leadership think we are?
