Our battle in Uplawmoor to stop the flight path changes and turbines goes on!
An historic village “stands united” against plans for the biggest shake-up of [Scotland’s flight paths](https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/all-about/flights) since the 1950s threatening their “peace, health and wellbeing”.
Uplawmoor Community Council is co-ordinating the local fightback against the remapping of the skies above them and say residents “stand united”. They say the proposals would expose residents to more than 40 flights a day during peak summer months, significantly increasing noise intrusion – particularly as Uplawmoor sits around 650 feet higher than [Glasgow](https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/all-about/glasgow).
In addition to aircraft noise, “persistent low-frequency noise from wind turbines” would create a “cumulative burden”, as a result of East Renfrewshire having the “highest density per sq km of turbines in Scotland”.
They added: “Uplawmoor seeks a fair, evidence-based and environmentally responsible alternative.” Aileen Jackson, local resident and co-founder of Scotland Against Spin, says one of the reasons [East Renfrewshire](https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/…/east…) has so many turbines is “because it was never intended to be on a flight path”.
Turbines are claimed to pose a risk to aviation primarily through potentially interfering with radar systems and posing physical obstructions especially for low flying and military aircraft.
Ms Jackson said: “All wind turbines over 150m in height are required to have aviation safeguarding lights but due to the proximity to Glasgow Airport and our height above sea level, all of the turbines around Uplawmoor over 50m in height have to be lit for obvious reasons.
