More on last week’s good news.
Controversial plans to build a wind farm near Watten have been brought to an end, with developers withdrawing their application after aviation safety concerns rendered the project unviable.
Despite campaigns against the proposal locally, it was an objection from Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) which ultimately proved decisive.
Aviation constraints in relation to Wick John O’Groats Airport meant that alterations to turbine heights would have been required, changes which EDF say undermined the viability of the scheme.
