TWO major wind farm developments in the Borders have been turned down by
the Scottish Government.

The schemes at Brunta Hill near Westruther, Berwickshire, and Shawpark near
Stow, Selkirkshire, would have seen a total of 17 turbines constructed.

Scottish Borders Council rejected the developments but the companies behind
them appealed. A Scottish Government planning reporter has now ruled that
neither can go ahead. Scottish Borders Council had written to the Scottish
Government pleading for the number of wind farms in the region to be limited.
