Renewable energy company BayWa r.e. has received planning approval from the Scottish Government for Corriegarth 2 Wind Farm, near Gorthleck and south east of Foyers.
An extension to the already-operational Corriegarth Wind Farm owned by Greencoat UK Wind, the consented scheme could produce enough domestically-sourced renewable energy to meet approximately 82% of the electricity demand in Inverness.
For the wind farm, BayWa r.e. has promised to restore around 100 hectares of peatland as part of a habitat enhancement plan, alongside support for the broader regional eagle management plan.
