HOUSEHOLDS have been hit with a soaring bill of more than £6.6 billion to pay energy firms for not producing electricity from mainly wind farms when the national grid cannot handle all the green power being generated in Scotland.
Records seen by The Herald show the annual cost of the so-called “constraint payments” has exploded, reaching £1.7bn in 2024-25, more than four times higher than five years ago and nearly £700 million more than in the previous year.  https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/25587586.households-foot-absurd-6-6bn-bill-switch-off-green-energy/?fbclid=IwY2xjawNzU3lleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHpm_FHTYTBgZFVLI3n9NWo5v4qFXPQRSk9BgmPl-8pvs0G9WyuRVXPl_JDfT_aem_30WBu2VGdJcHVvMg_nRPrw
