Plan for more than 100 miles of ‘monster’ pylons through some of Scotland’s most scenic countryside could result in a ’54 per cent loss of biodiversity’, officials have warned.
But the council has said the proposed development, which locals fear will lead to the ‘industrialisation of the Highlands’, goes against 20 local and national policies – including one for ‘tackling climate and nature crises’.
Its objection states that ‘no or insufficient regard has been had to the desirability of conserving flora fauna and physiographical features of special interest and of protecting sites, buildings and objects of architectural, historic or archaeological interest and there has been a failure to take reasonable steps to mitigate the effects.’  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15254263/Plans-100-miles-monster-pylons-Scotlands-scenic-countryside-result-54-cent-loss-biodiversity.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawN36wFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeh5XpkLY04TztkEZLaEh7apH2Xt1UyrX3M-BRdAGrHzIxqIfU8LcS_vWds8o_aem_ITlJ4WM12lHv0JgAL8qdIA
